Medicare Assistance


As a certified SHIP (Senior Health Insurance Program) site, the PCCC has counselors ready to answer your questions and assist with enrollment in Medicare and money-saving programs related to Medicare.

The PCCC holds enrollment events each month to discuss available benefits and money-saving programs for those 60+ and provide enrollment assistance with Medicare D, Medicare Part B Prevention & Wellness Benefits, Extra Help/Low Income Subsidy, Medicare Savings Programs and Benefit Access. No appointment necessary.

The AARP Driver Safety Program is a classroom and online driver refresher course designed especially for drivers age 50 and older. This program aims to help community members retain their driving competency. Participants learn driving strategies, the effects of aging on driving, how to reduce the chance of having an accident, updated driving laws and knowing when it is time to limit or retire from driving. At completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate to present to their auto insurance company that may entitle them to a premium discount. There is a $20.00 course fee for members and $25.00 course fee for non-members. The online course can be accessed HERE.

2023 Community Outreach Dates


Our Outreach worker visits public locations in Putnam County each month to answer questions about available benefits and services for adults 60+, screen for program eligibility and provide application/enrollment assistance. All dates are scheduled from 9:30-11:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. No appointment necessary. Upcoming dates:

Starting April 7, 2022, the Social Security Administration will add more in-person appointments and offer in-person service for people without an appointment. As they prepare to help more people in person at local Social Security offices throughout the country, visit the Social Security Administration's website for more guidance on how to get help from Social Security.


The PCCC has funding available for persons with Alzheimer’s Disease, dementia or a related disorder and/or their primary caregivers. Funds are to be used for services and supports, goods/supplies and/or home modifications that enhance their ability to remain in their homes. Eligible caregivers are those who are informal, unpaid and responsible for directing and managing the care of person with dementia.


For more information on the process and eligibility, please call the PCCC. The PCCC is an aging and disability resource center and is partially funded by the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging.
